Out in the Open (feat. bandanabloom) (Apr 25 2020–Mar 21 2021) is absolutely my favorite song from this entire album. it's about my worries about friends who've stopped talking to me. i worry about whether or not i've upset them, if i'm annoying, things like that. i'm just hoping that, one day, they'll come back and maybe we'll talk again. featuring bandanabloom on this was actually a last-minute decision, but i'm so glad we did it because i love these lyrics and the song is packed with so many emotions.
lyrics
Did they forget me? Leave behind
The thought of what could have been mine
The feeling I wish I could find on my own
Still, they haunt me, the people I've met
The people I need to forget
But now, they don't seem to know me at all
Where did they go? What did I do
When everyone's gone, can I still trust in you
Should I do better? Will there be more
I just want to feel the way I did before
Do they come back
Do they come back to me
Can I try again
If it will never be
Out in the open
Give me the time I need to change
Will they forgive me
Will they remember me
Don't get me wrong now, I'm proud of them
And grateful for what we had
I just wish I could talk to them once more
Maybe I'm selfish, wanting this
And blinded by my fractured bliss
But tell me: can you still remember at all
Where did they go? What did I do
When everyone's gone, can I still trust in you
Should I do better? Will there be more
I just want to feel the way I did before
Where'd I go wrong? Was it my fault
Can I still pretend that I'm something I'm not
All that I knew, all that I am,
Depended on them, you're the only one left
Do they come back
Do they come back to me
Can I try again
If it will never be
Out in the open
Give me the time I need to change
Will they forgive me
Will they remember me
Jane's pop songwriting sensibility is unrelentingly poppy but still punches you in the gut. Her instrumentation is imaginative and cohesive. Frailty captured and mutated my love for electronic music. Astro
This seamless blend of dubstep, jazz, and the usual joys of plunderphonics fills me with so much awe. This chapter of berdlycore epitomizes xaev's capacity to manipulate his samples as mere textures. Astro
Snail's House's approach to chords and leads has found its way in all the music I make. His bright electronic sounds are sopping with joy and cheer everywhere you look, it's actually magical. Astro
